Chester City Owner Stephen Vaughan

After an eventful start to the new League campaign Chester City owner Stephen Vaughan is hoping the Blues can start heading in the right direction.  The Blues have shipped eleven goals in their first two games, but after a disappointing start to the new campaign the City owner is hoping the only way is up for his side.

“It’s certainly been an eventful start to the season.  We have come into the season full of anticipation and we were hoping to get off to a good start and avenge a nightmare that we had at the Dagenham and Redbridge last season and we had a right smashing and suffered a 5-1 thrashing against Leeds on Tuesday night but we hope we can put it right with a result today,” reflected Vaughan.

“We have 45 games remaining and today we are hoping to see a different game of football.  Hopefully Simon will get his tactics right and we’ll get some points on the board today.”

Vaughan continued: “I would ask our fans to stick with us.  There are a number of things going on within the club but it’s no use us planning these new facilities and getting this backing together and if we are only going to be playing Conference football.  As I say, we have 45 games to go and hopefully we will get back on the winning track today.  Hopefully our players confidence levels are not too low and we can pick it up today and what support does turn out will hopefully get behind us.”

Speaking about his aspirations for the League Two campaign, the Chester City owner is hoping to record the clubs highest points return since the club returned to the Football League.

“My aspirations are to get into the play-offs and first and foremost we want to get 56 points on the board.  That would give us our best return since getting back into the Football League.  Hopefully, if we can get near to that 56 we can then start thinking about getting 72, maybe 74 points for that play-off spot.”
