City win Youth derby

Chester City U18's 3 Wrexham U18's 0

Chester City's Youth team were by far the better side in this morning's Puma Youth Alliance derby fixture played at the Airfield, Broughton.

City opened the scoring within 13 minutes of play when Ryan Williams showed determination to score the opener. Williams intercepted the ball and caught the Wrexham keeper all at sea to score having cooly rounded him to bag his goal.

City nearly added to the tally in the 18th minute when Giovanni Feliciello's free kick nearly found Lloyd Ellams at the back post.

Clearly in control, the young Blues did bag a second in the 23rd minute. A pinball like loose ball was eventually headed goalwards by Jack Rowlands to double the City advantage.

City's third was delightfully taken by Kieran Morrin who gymnastically piroetted the ball into the net at the close of the first half.

Simon Davies will feel aggrieved that the Blues didn't get a penalty in the 55th minute after Andy Thorpe was felled by the Wrexham keeper.
