2003 - 2004Daryl Clare and Darryn Stamp netted 49 goals between them as Chester City won the Nationwide Conference title in 2003/04. Mark Wright's side overcame an early 2-1 defeat at Exeter, with Darryn Stamp arriving from Northampton and starring in an 18 match unbeaten run that took Chester to the top of the table. Alex Smith returned from Reading in November and we remained in pole position, scoring 11 goals in the two games against Leigh RMI. We pipped Hereford United to the championship with a 1-0 win over Scarborough in their final home match on the 17th April 2004, finishing with 92 points.
