1964-1965

We scored a club record 119 League goals overall during the memorable 1964/65 campaign.

Player-boss Peter Hauser signed Hugh Ryden from Stockport County and he formed a lethal forward-line with Jimmy Humes, Mike Metcalf, Gary Talbot and Elfed Morris.

We gained a thrilling 5-4 League Cup second round win over Derby County and also conceded goals almost as fast as they could score them in the Fourth Division.

Ex-Blackpool star Dave Dune reunited with Hauser and Chester lost 2-1 at Manchester United in the FA Cup third round, then trounced local rivals Wrexham 6-1 en route to finishing eighth.
