In addition to the game played at Vauxhall on Tuesday, Simon Davies supervised a mixed team up at the Airfield, Broughton.

The City side featured Youth Team players but Davies also found places for the likes of Phillip Palethorpe, Lee Steele, Rob Marsh Evans, Sean Newton and Paul Rutherford from the senior squad.

City gave a good account of themselves and almost took an early 2 minute lead when Matty Woods shot just wide right from 18 yards out.

Airbus almost seized the initiative two minutes later after a loose ball found its way out to be hit back in by an unmarked opposition player who sent it back to test Palethorpe.

With just 7 minutes on the clock, Lee Steele picked up a knock to his leg and was replaced by Tom Vickers.

Paul Rutherford was proving to be a real trouble to Airbus all evening and he nearly put the Blues ahead on 11 minutes with a slick shot that forced a dive from the Airbus keeper.

CIty continued to pile on the pressure but the deadlock remained as the first half concluded and it wasn't until the 58th minute that the deadlock was broken when a penalty was awarded to City.

Rob Marsh Evans stepped up and converted the spot kick to put the Blues in the lead.

Airbus now had a late rally and Palethorpe made some impressive saves as the home side piled on the pressure.

Sadly City couldn't hold on for the win and with just 4 minutes to play Neil Wynne equalised for the home side as he struck a great ball from 20 yards.
